Victorian sterling silver star collar
A stunning Victorian collar made from sterling silver and adorned with stars.
Star motifs surged in popularity in the 1860s and 1870s. Celestial symbolism represented guidance, destiny and divine protection. This was enormously fashionable among the Victorian upper classes. To cover an entire collar in stars is a bold and deliberate statement.
As the name suggests, these types of chains sit close to the collar and were often worn with a large locket attached. Thanks to the XL bolt ring, you can wear just about anything on this chain (see pics for ideas - locket, T-bar, charm not included).
In lovely antique condition.
