Victorian 9ct gold & carnelian lion fob

A popular Victorian symbol of strength, courage and protection, the lion featured quite a bit in jewellery of the era. 

This beautifully preserved spinning fob is made from 9ct gold & carnelian. One side of the fob is decorative rosy gold with a blank scroll, perfect to engrave on. On the other side is a deep red carnelian stone, still n lovely condition. The lion stands proudly on top, tail curled to one side, and he seems to be more yellow in tone.

Worn hallmarks show that this piece has lived a very interesting life and yet it remains in lovely antique condition.
