Victorian 18ct gold, ruby & old cut diamond snake ring
Queen Victoria was famously gifted a snake engagement ring by Prince Albert, symbolising his eternal love for her. This kicked off a craze that lasted decades and has resurfaced again and again throughout history. Snake rings range from being quite simple to rather grand and elaborate. This stunning example is definitely on the grander end of that scale and we love him for that!
Made from a buttery 18ct gold, with ruby eyes, 5 old cut diamonds totalling approximately 0.90ct and coils 5 times so he's lovely and wide. Fully hallmarked inside for Birmingham 1893 and although there's evidence (inside only) of being resized in the past, is in really lovely antique condition!
