High carat amulet charm

The exact origin and identify of this piece is not certain but we love how unusual and striking it is. Possibly a buddhist amulet, the outer layer of the charm tests as 18ct gold with a bale stamped 80% (19.2ct gold). Inside the domed casing is a creature that could be a rabbit, horse or something more mythical. The domed casing may look cracked from the outside, but this does not seem to be the case and it is more likely internal variations. 

With lots of intricate, hand worked detailing on the gold and shrouded in mystery, we think this piece will make a fascinating addition to a neck stack!
