Antique 18ct gold whistle

One of the best things about antique jewellery is that so often pieces also performed a function. This is an exceptional example of just that!

An 18ct gold whistle, that actually works, engraved with the name 'Derek' and dated 1903. The hallmarks have become worn with age but thanks to the engraving, we know this whistle is at least 122 years old.

Over the years and likely from regular use, the whistle has developed a beautiful patina with some age related wear, yet it remains in lovely condition. A testament to how well made it is. Just imagine the stories this piece could tell.
