Antique 18ct gold fancy link bracelet
As someone who gets to see and handle a lot of jewellery, the more unusual something is the more excited I am about it. This piece literally made me gasp! It’s an amazing piece of history and a gorgeous work of art.
Firstly, I’ve not seen anything like it before. Secondly, the colour & design are just amazing. Thirdly, it’s in wonderful antique condition.
Made from buttery 18ct gold, the links are very interesting indeed. Rounded S-shaped links form the base for beautiful relief work designed liked foliage and scrolls with filigree details. The hidden clasp is a faux bois (false wood) log with a safety chain and still closes securely.
There’s an 18C stamp and some other indistinguishable markings but I’ve also had it XRF tested to confirm its purity. Although no date stamp is present, this piece is likely circa 1900.
If you look really closely you can see some signs of wear including some small dents and surface scratches but this really isn’t noticeable on such a decorative piece. Overall I think the condition is really great! (other bracelets pictured not for sale)
