Antique 15ct gold, peridot & garnet spider pendant
Lovingly converted from a brooch, made from warm 15ct gold, peridot and garnet, and perfect for the upcoming spooky season.
The spider was a good-luck emblem to the Victorians, especially for money and prosperity. Spiders also stood for industry, patience and creativity, because of their skilled weaving, and spider jewellery was sometimes given as a token of good fortune. The craze also drew on the Victorian passion for natural history and collecting insects. Peridot was associated with light and protection, and garnet with loyalty and safe travels, which suits a good-luck charm nicely.
Late Victorian/early Edwardian and in excellent condition.
