Antique 15ct gold & chrysoprase lion intaglio seal

Dating back to the late Georgian/early Victorian era, this magnificent seal fob is made from ornate, intricately carved, 15ct gold (XRF tested) and the juiciest, faceted, apple green, chrysoprase stone.

This piece would have been used as a wax seal, stamped onto letters, and would likely have hung as a fob from a chain. Lion symbolism dates back over 5000 years and has been used throughout history to depict nobility, courage, authority and protection.

This piece is nothing short of museum worthy and adds both beauty and charm to a collection. Thanks to its generous size and weight, it looks good on a simple chain, longer chains or even on a chunky Albert (see pics for examples - chains not included).
