Antique 14ct gold & rose cut diamond Disc of Phaistos ring
An exceptional 14ct gold ring featuring a seal face inspired by the Phaistos Disc, a mysterious archeological artifact from Crete. The inscriptions on the disc feature both on the top and underneath and to this day have not been deciphered. A slightly warmer toned dome sits proudly on the top with an old rose cut, starburst set diamond in the centre.
This sort of fascination with archeology and ancient symbolism was popular during the Victorian and Edwardian eras. Given that it's 14ct gold, we assume it's European and likely from the late 19th early 20th Century.
A beautifully mysterious ring with lots of gorgeous details!
